Thresh
Backstory: Strait Noblespire will own Waterdeep. After attending an event where he saw the Mortal Guardians attain respect and fame for their actions, Strait saw an opportunity to advance his own goals. Leveraging systems was all part of the game after all, what could possibly be difficult about joining a bunch of simpletons playing hero? If he were to do this right, he could curry favor with the public, gain some muscle, even gain some potential short cuts politically, as everyone loves a hero. A few gold here, some shook hands there, and he had agreed to become part of the Mortal Guardians. Surely, this would be a fast track to securing a strong seat, and eventually a city of his own. Strait has remarkably good posture, and often dresses in fine clothing, wearing an insignia of his house's crest on his person at all times in plain sight for all to see. His brown hair is slicked back, his hooves and horns capped in gold, and his teeth sparkling white. Edited June 16 by Thresh

Thresh
The Journals of Sir Noblespire: Day 1 (6/1): "This will be more difficult than I expected. These "Mortal Guardians" seem to be a group of simpletons and goodie two shoes who care more about doing the right thing rather than what can be gained from their skills. They also seem to take any line of work that comes through the door. Our first "public outreach" ended up being a extermination order from some run down hut on the edge of town. The establishment was ghastly, with incompetent servers and terrible drink, I paid a gold in good faith that things would be handled, and instead was given some swill that tasted of fruit and nail polish remover. The woman running the show seemed to have some influence though, surely something to remember. The muscle they hire is incapable as well, with all the ones I met either drunk, injured, or dead. Hopefully going forward this endeavor will be more worthwhile. I have decided to keep the funds I earn here separate from my funds at home, as sectioning them feels safer, and will keep me more in the "adventurer" mindset. It seems these dullards don't understand the power of a coin, and wouldn't know if it gave them every opportunity they could want. I was paid a pittance of 45 gold, which I suppose will suffice in the mean time. The situation will need to improve rapidly, or drastic changes will need to be made." Thresh
Day 2 (6/2): "Another day, another instance of running around, herding buffoons. The most egregious part of today was easily the fiasco that happened at a tavern. It was another run down ramshackle that all of the poverty seem to shelter in, though this one actively sold "bad wine". I was appalled by this until I truly had my words taken from me when a member of the group I had been assigned to knowingly bought a bottle. What was worse was they spent 5 silver (a pittance, I know) on something that should have been thrown away. What shocked me even more was that they gave the trash as a gift! Even more surprising this gift of an insult was received with genuine gratitude. These savages seem to enjoy being swindled and have not a single care for what quality they receive for their coin. Other than that, we dealt with some two bit mage who was dabbling in things that clearly she did not understand. Her quest for power met a headless end. Was paid 40 gold, small pay for small work I suppose."
Thresh
Day 3 (6/3): "Today I was finally presented with something worthwhile. We were tasked with going to the estate of a noble (names omitted, for sake of plausible deniability) to 'handle' an unruly mage. Upon arrival, we discovered the mage had much more secrets than what was initially prepared for. The prodigal son also made an appearance, though the pup seemed just as interesting as usual. We have had three houses sign behind the banner of the Mortal Guardians (again, names omitted, this time for discretion), and were paid handsomely, this time being awarded 20 platinum and 104 gold pieces. hopefully these payments will be much more common. I have sent word to the private armory to have my leather armors replaced with studded leathers, and in the instance of 'fairness' with the rest of the guild members, made a donation of the cost of new armor to local charity. I have also sent other unnecessary items back, as they seem of extra weight. I will keep the rapier around as a show piece, as any political events or meet and greets beg for a proper appearance. The Guild has a 'rewards program' where the more time and work you engage with them, the more access to magic items you have. I have requested a set of 'Gauntlets of Ogre Power', an awful name and a brutish creature, but something that will significantly improve potential future endeavors." @feywildwitchling(buying studded leather for 45 gp. flavored above) Edited June 3, 2022 by Thresh
Thresh
Day 3, Cont. (6/3): "The assignment that rounded this day out offered some stunning new potentials. After a long rest, I went out with a set of 'fellow' 'adventurers' to help a once enemy of the Mortal Guardians. Personally, I had no ill will toward this individual, as the potential they offered made more sense to me. Not to mention, in my line of work, making deals with less than pious sorts always tends to affirm a leg up. We took a trip to another plane, something that I can certainly now cross off the bucket list, though I might have to go for another trip, as this region was... less than agreeable. As payment, we were given 600 gold, a nice purse for the trouble. I was also able to broker a 'favor' for the Mortal Guardians, and myself, which I am sure will pay off handsomely in the future." Thresh
Day 4 (6/10): "An odd sense of Deja vu today, I was assigned to a group to deal with a wizard, on terms similar to those in my first writings of day 3. One of the guards of the manor acted as if she did not know who I was, typical of 'that' family to skimp out on hiring proper guards to man their grounds. One of the poor souls in my group seemed to have a breakdown over simple vermin, how these people survive their work on a daily basis, I have no clue. For rewards, we were delivered 20 platinum and 80 gold, a little on the lower side than what I would prefer, but worthwhile all the same." Thresh
Day 5 (6/11): "Today felt particularly productive. The opportunities of the dregs of Waterdeep seem to be abound. While we had a scrap with some less than admirable individuals, the potentials definitely made themselves available. The Noblespires will be contributing to the 'futures' of the orphanage in the dockward, how this untapped labour market has not been exploited yet is beyond me. We have also greased the palms of a potential spy network, and found a group that can certianly act as muscle in any regard. We were paid a nice sum of 30 platinum and 700 gold, which is nice to see, considering how much the pockets had to bleed today. The income from this adventuring guild has been amicable enough to keep the Noblespire's coffers entirely separate from any illicit dealings, which is ideal for keeping the rest of these dealings off the books." Thresh
Day 6 (6/14): "Today was an... odd day. We found an odd, golden egg at the start of our adventure. It seemed to be magical, but in what way we did not know. We were sent to find one of our own, who disappeared recently while on a quest of his own. Shortly after finding his transport, we were ambushed by vagabonds. Understanding their game, I tried to be honest with them, and level very clearly that we would not pay their "toll" and they would not be dead if they let us pass. Our naïve group was somehow upset by this comment and tried to pay them off. They tried to attack us, and were quickly dispatched. After this came a trek through the woods. where we found more beasts, as well as a peculiar woman. She seemed to have great potential, surely someone I will look towards in the future. She led us to where our associate was being held. After a swift rescue, the egg we had hatched, and gave us a blessing of sorts. Once we returned to the guild hall and were paid, we watched the gold in our payments double before our eyes, for a total of 420 gold pieces. I will have to look for these eggs in the future, as the extra funds will dramatically move my plans forward at a much more rapid pace." Thresh
Day 7 (6/22): "Today was rather mundane, though there was a nice respite mid mission. We were tasked with sorting an issue with a temple, and dealt with riff raff that were causing issues with the inside of the church. While traversing, a fell under a spell that beguiled me. It allowed me to have a pleasant conversation with the most interesting person I could imagine: myself. Of course, the simpletons I was travelling with had to be a nuisance and interrupt us. After all was said and done, we were paid a handsome 100 GP." Thresh
Day 8 (7/2): "The business of today set us much forward on our progress. The fall of Vaarelixian has done House Noblespire a great spot to climb in standing. While our house might not fill the power vacuum completely, the potential to rise in the ashes of another house, especially one as bloated as that of the late lord allows for growths of all kinds. I am worried about what that dullard had signed himself up for, as it seems he did not hedge his bets going in. He presented as... not himself, in his final moments. The assault on the villa went rather smoothly, and we were able to discover much concerning the ongoings and other plans, if I had to guess, the Lord was being used as a pawn, albeit quite a strong one, leveraging his wealth, influence, and status to make moves behind the scenes. I'm sure with the capturing of 'The Conductor' much will open in terms of information. As for this mission, we were paid a rather handsome sum, totaling in excess of 1000's of gold pieces. A hefty bounty for a hefty, if empty, head."
